From the back Menu at the Dairy Bar

“Back in 1953 if you were passing through the small farm town known as Prospect you could have stopped at the Dairy Bar for Ice Cream and other farm fresh dairy products that were straight from the Visockis’ farm down the road. Vincent did the cooking and his wife Olive prepared all the soups, sandwiches and desserts.

In 1984 John & Carol Jones assumed Ownership of the Dairy Bar and also the tradition that accompanied it. For the first time ever the Dairy Bar was kept open year round.

Even though some cosmetic changes and expansions have taken place, there are some things that will always remain the same about the Dairy Bar, Prospect’s oldest continually run business; The hand painted mural depicting Prospect’s local land marks, the checker board floor, the fresh baked pies, the daily specials, the char-broiled burgers and homemade soups are sure to remain.”

The Rainbow leads to….Prospect, Ct.

Posted by prospectrealtor on June 9, 2008

Rainbow over Prospect.

Well the freak storm last night at least produced one good thing, a great rainbow! Here in Prospect we received 3″ of Rain in 30 minutes. The winds picked up and knocked down several trees causing some temporary road closures. The Prospect Fire House was struck by lightning and lost their phone service and also power. Mayor bob said the 911 service was never interrupted however.

New Kids in Motion Park and Playscape in Cheshire, Ct

Prospect Playscape

Cheshire recently opened a new Playscape for the kids and we visited it this past week.  I have never seen anything like this, and it is a true must see.

That is the map link to the location, although what is shown is the OLD playscape, not the new one.  There is so much to do and we spent two hours there, the time just flew.  Everything from a sandbox area, to a Spider web climbing area, a large rock climbing unit, several playscapes, Picnic areas, etc, etc.  There also seems to be a large emphasis on safety.  The padding underfoot of several sections is a composite material that is very spongy.  It seems like the truely spared no expense.

Recap from the Prospect, Ct Easter Egg Hunt, Amber Alert Event

Posted by prospectrealtor on March 24, 2008

100_1729.jpgProspect Ct Easter Egg Hunt Town Green

This past Saturday was the annual Prospect, Ct Easter Egg hunt and Lunch with the Easter Bunny.

The event was VERY well attended, and here are some photos.  Two general observations as pointed out by my 4 year old son…

1) There actually aren’t any “Eggs” at the Easter egg hunt.  It is just candy.   lots and lots and lots of Candy.  It is scattered all around on the town green, and when Mayor Bob Chatfield blows the air horn, it is every child for themselves.

2) Lunch with the Easter Bunny isn’t exactly “Lunch with the Easter Bunny”.  The Easter Bunny isnt in the same room where the Lunch is.  The main hall of the Prospect Fire House is used to serve the Hot Dogs, Chips and cookies.   After lunch you go down the hall and wait to see the Easter Bunny and take your photos.

After you see the Easter Bunny, you get a coupon from the Big Dipper Ice Cream for a $1 off a kids cone.  Once you exited the Easter Bunny you are actually in the Firehouse Garage.  This is also great for the kids.  The Prospect Fire Department has everything opened up so everyone can see.   All the compartments on the firetrucks, the doors to the trucks, etc.  Very nice.  This is also where the Amber Alert people were setup, and the Prospect Ladies auxiliary was there selling flowers as well.  It was a tremendous turnout and the money from the Lunch went to the Ladies Auxiliary.

If you arent familiar with the Amber Alert Program you can find out more about it here.  It is a MUST for parents nowadays.

Prospect Ct Lunch with the Easter Bunny and Annual easter egg hunt.

Posted by prospectrealtor on March 20, 2008

Prospect Easter BunnyThe annual Prospect, Ct lunch with the Easter bunny and Easter egg hunt is here again!  It is March 22nd, 2008 at 11am.  It will be on the Town Green, weather permiting.  The always divide sections by age group of the children and there is plenty of loot for everyone!  Directly following the egg hunt everyone heads across the street to the Prospect Fire House for lunch with the Easter Bunny.  Last year the cost was $5 and included; chips, hot dog, soda and a cookie.  The money went to the Amber Alert group.  The Amber Alert Group will also be setup to take photos and register children into their system and issue ID cards.  It is always a GREAT time for all!

Prospect Ct Election

Posted by prospectrealtor on November 3, 2007

Well it is almost November 6th, Elections Day.  It is very important for all Prospect citizens to get out there and vote.   The race between Mike Scaviola and Mayor Robert Chatfield has really heated up.  The candidates websites are both located here. www.ProspectRepublicans.com and also www.ProspectDemocrats.com.  I try to never preach politics, and honestly believe the most important thing is for everyone to do there part, AND VOTE.  This is also the first year of the new electronic ballot system.  It seems to be very straightforward and is similar to an SAT style bubble test.  You fill out your choices and then send it through an optical scanner.

Feel free to post your comments on what you think the qualities of each candidate are… I would love to hear.
